Protest Clouds | 2022 | SERIES OF 15
Protest signs: Tattert paper, vintage cloth, wood, twine, bees wax.
Back to scavenging the streets of surry hills I got fascinated by the cloud shapes on my pavements. Paper tissues, wrappings and packaging that people leave behind get soaked in the relentless rain showers early in the year. No one seems to recognise the beautiful cloudy shapes the soles of their shoes and boots create while they hurry to wherever they need to be. The clouds on the ground are beautiful and deserve to be seen. They make the depression and lack of sunshine a more bearable. The stilts turn them into protest signs and closer where they need to be, high up in the sky and closer to heaven. Now they have a voice and meaning. A purpose for those who can see them now.
