Compositions of lost and found objects. For a while I collected interesting materials from the streets of Surry Hills Sydney. It helped me in the process of feeling at home and familiar with my environment after I left Holland. I was trying to connect and find a sense of belonGing since I left friends and loved ones behind. The compositions are placed behind an opaque skin-like layer to protect the pieces I found in perfect harmony. This grid based character of the compositions are giving the lost pieces some comfort and structure again. The feeling they are part of a bigger plan. A community. Some boards came from the ray hughes gallery’s back office on devonshire street after it closed it’s doors. The old scratched and stained desk tops of a former art legend here in sydney seemed appropriate.
