Ambushed and blind sided. An endless stream of mud entering the front door. And when it finally dried up, this nightgown was left marked at exactly the same height as the rest of the house. The line separates the pristine kept top of the garment from the forever damaged lower parts. Perhaps it will never be worn again. But This delicate and exquisite linen night gown still stands tall. By itself. So light and frail, yet stronger than a flood. Thin as tissue paper for warm summer nights. The translucent fabric must have almost felt refreshing. However, it didn’t crumble under the immense pressure of the muddy water. This sculpture represents the resilience, courage, pride and strength of those who stand their grounds. Feeling vulnerable and fragile like the gown no doubt. But no matter how high the water will rise, they will not retreat. They will keep standing strong. Because being strong is their only choice.
